Sharp’s Brewery launches limited brew ‘Point Break’ to on-trade

Screen Shot 2016-07-11 at 12.08.20Following popular demand, Cornwall-based Sharp’s Brewery has today relaunched one of its limited release beers, a blonde ale called ‘Point Break’ (4.6 per cent ABV). As part of Sharp’s commitment to creating new and exciting flavours, the new beer will be made available across on-trade outlets throughout mainland UK until 31 August*. Five pence from every pint of ‘Point Break’ sold will be donated to the Blue Flag charity to help protect beaches in Cornwall for the enjoyment of all.

‘Point Break’ was available as a limited edition brew for two months last year, and proved highly popular with Sharp’s customers, with over £16,000 raised for Blue Flag awards from sales of the limited releases. The beer recipe was developed by Sharp’s Technical Brewer, Aaron McClure inspired by his love of blonde beers and surfing point break reefs near his home in Newquay. Smooth and sweet on the palate, Point Break has a refreshing and moreish finish. The aroma is fresh and clean with hints of herbal hops and sweet citrus fruit.

Brewing exceptional beer is paramount for Sharp’s and the new diverse limited release range perfectly complements their portfolio of industry leading brands including Doom Bar, the UK’s number one cask ale, and Atlantic, one of the country’s most exciting new cask ales.

James Nicholls, Senior Brand Manager at Sharp’s Brewery comments: “We were delighted that Point Break proved so popular with customers last year, and we hope that even more people enjoy this refreshing and moreish blonde ale this summer. Our brewing team is committed to experimenting with exciting flavours and beer styles on our new Pilot Plant at Rock where we are creating even more incredible cask beers to delight our customers.

“Through sales of our limited releases in 2015, we raised over £16,000 for the Blue Flag and we are delighted to continue to support this important initiative again this year. Blue Flag awards are an excellent way to assure the public that they are enjoying great quality standards at our beaches and in so doing, support coastal communities and the local economy.”

The Blue Flag initiative encourages sustainable development of beaches across the world, and is owned and run by the non-governmental organisation the FEE.

‘Point Break’ can be purchased via Sharp’s Brewery on 01208 864864.
