West Bromwich-based East End Foods is the largest UK importer of ethnic foods, supplying spices, lentils and rice to retailers and restaurants throughout the country and carrying a massive 1250 product lines. The company added a new Rovema EW443-200 wraparound case packer onto its horizontal bagging line recently and is delighted with how it is performing. Rovema has been working with East End Foods for many years and prides itself on its working relationship with this customer which turns over in excess of £180m per annum.
East End Foods’ spice range is now available in innovative re-sealable stand up ‘zip’ packs making them more convenient to use and store and this is entirely due to the Rovema packaging machinery it uses.
Rovema’s UK Sales Manager, Alistair Bown, says: “Having started with Rovema on the engineering side of the business I have actually installed several machines at East End Foods personally, so it was good to see the new case packer being installed. This was an extension to a horizontal SBS brick pack bagging line and adds reliable automation to the process.”
Director of East End Foods, Jas Wouhra, said: “We’ve had a fantastic relationship with Rovema over the years and chose this latest machine because of its quality and reliability and the excellent team that support it. Its compatibility with our other equipment is important but so is the service we are given by Rovema.”
Rovema machines are used for packaging all sorts of products for producers worldwide, including confectionery, dry goods and frozen food manufacturers. They have handled over 550 different product categories so far. Renowned for its innovation, the company has been working with leading brands in the UK for 30 years and 60 years next year for Rovema GmbH.
