Flake Bake expands Aldi portfolio with second product release

UK-based Jamaican patty company Flake Bake has announced the launch of its new Jamaican-inspired ready-meal range, which is now exclusively available in Aldi stores.

The launch marks an expansion of the brand’s Aldi portfolio, following the listing of its Flake Bake Beef Patty in 2024 after winning Aldi’s Next Big Thing competition. The product became the first competition winner to launch in a limited number of stores nationwide as a seasonal summer offering. Strong consumer demand led to it becoming a permanent listing, with the range later expanded to include the Flake Bake Chicken Patty in March 2025.

Having sold more than 4m patties since launching in Aldi, Flake Bake is now entering the ready-meal category for the first time with two new products:

• Jerk BBQ Chicken with Rice & Peas, featuring cooked chicken in a barbecue-style sauce served with basmati rice and red kidney beans.

• BBQ Beef & Sweet Potato Mash, featuring cooked beef in a barbecue-style sauce served with a potato and sweet potato mash.

Both meals combine naturally sweetened barbecue flavours with traditional Caribbean ingredients including pineapple, scotch bonnet peppers, ginger, thyme and pimento. The Jerk BBQ Chicken meal is served with coconut-infused rice.

Created to bring authentic Jamaican flavours to a wider audience, the new range aims to deliver convenient, high-quality meals at an accessible price point, with a recommended retail price of £3.99.

Mike Williams, co-founder of Flake Bake, said: “Scaling up from a local London takeaway making patties in Peckham to producing for one of the nation’s biggest retailers hasn’t been without its challenges, so launching our third product line in as many years for Aldi is something we’re really proud of.

“We’ve been making patties for decades but ready-meals are a whole new category which required a different level of development, especially when it came to sourcing authentic ingredients for mass-market scale. It was important we retained the depth of flavour associated with Caribbean cooking whilst meeting the operational requirements of large-scale retail production.”

The ready-meal launch represents the next stage in Williams’ ambition to bring Jamaican flavours to everyday shoppers, building on the success of Flake Bake’s patty range.

Customers familiar with the brand’s Jamaican patties can expect the same bold flavours, quality ingredients and authentic inspiration in the new meals. All products are inspired by traditional Jamaican cooking and are produced in the UK for Aldi using British-reared chicken and beef.

Flake Bake’s new ready-meals, Jerk BBQ Chicken with Rice & Peas and BBQ Beef & Sweet Potato Mash, are available exclusively at Aldi with an RRP of £3.99.
