The No.3 Vesper Martini is available now from all John Lewis and Booths stores nationwide. It had previously been produced as a limited edition pre-bottled Vesper Martini cocktail and was only available in selected outlets. However, its popularity has seen it become a permanent fixture on the retailer’s shelves.
The ready to drink (RTD) cocktail market is now worth £475m in the UK, with the consumer searching for premium RTD products, as they have done previously with spirits.
The Vesper will be available both online and in all 42 John Lewis stores and around 28 Booths stores. The listing comes at an ideal time, with lockdown easing and thousands of people taking to the many gardens and parks throughout UK this summer.
The ready-to-pour version of this classic cocktail was been created in collaboration with Alessandro Palazzi of Mayfair’s iconic DUKES Bar and has been designed to be as smooth and suave as the iconic spy who named it.
The pre-bottled Vesper Martini combines No.3’s award-winning liquid – voted World’s Best Gin four times – with high quality vodka and vermouth. It has been crafted to both No.3 Gin and Alessandro’s exacting standards, with the intention of creating a bartender quality cocktail to enjoy at home by simply pouring from the bottle.
The Vesper Martini bottle includes stunning abstract artwork in the label, reflective of No.3’s ‘Art of Perfection’ brand platform. Working with artist Justin Zoll, the cocktail is crystalised and scientifically photographed at 40 times magnification. In September 2020 the brand previously produced a Vesper-inspired piece of unique artwork that is available for consumers to purchase as a standalone limited-edition print via Fy.com, joining the brand’s wider selection of prints developed within the Art of Perfection collection.
For the ultimate drinking experience, chill the bottle in the freezer for two to three hours before pouring into a Martini glass – just like they do at DUKES. The more spontaneous consumer can simply stir over ice for 007 seconds and strain. Garnish with a twist of orange. Thanks to the QR code featured on the bottle, drinkers can glean tips from Alessandro and No.3 Gin Brand Ambassador Ross Bryant on how to mix the perfect Vesper Martini at home.
Speaking of his inspiration behind the collaboration, Alessandro Palazzi, Bar Manager at DUKES Bar, said: “The Vesper Martini is an homage to James Bond – to the first novel, Casino Royale, and to the beautiful spy, Vesper Lynd. It is the most popular Martini at DUKES; my recreated version uses English vermouth and Polish vodka, a nod to both the writer and the agent, and most importantly No.3 Gin – a proper, honest, juniper-led gin, just as it should be. It was a pleasure to have worked with No.3 to create this pre-bottled Vesper Martini, for everyone to enjoy.”
The No.3 Vesper Martini comes in a 500ml glass bottle, serving five cocktails, and is available to purchase exclusively via John Lewis and Booths stores online at £35.00 per bottle.
