Karma Cola, the ethical soft drink made from organic, Fairtrade natural ingredients and real cola nuts from Sierra Leone, took out the hotly contested Innovation Challenge at the annual Lunch! trade show yesterday.
The Innovation Challenge showcases the best new food-to-go products to enter the market, with some 47 brands entering this year.
Following a public vote from the trade and buyers at the show, it all came down to a ninety second pitch to the panel of industry experts.
Karma Cola came up trumps with its new standout 250ml squat cans – the perfect lunchbox sized treat that not only tastes and looks good, but does good too.
Judges commented: “We love the ethical credentials, the design, the sizing. This is a new dawn for the Cola market.”
Karma Cola’s new cans developed out of demand from the food-to-go sector for a great tasting, ethical soft drink option where proceeds go back to the people of Sierra Leone who make the drink possible.
They launched in May this year and are available at Pure, Tortilla, Waitrose, Whole Foods Market, and Selfridges RRP £1.25. This includes Gingerella Organic ginger ale and Lemony Organic lemonade.
The range of glass bottles are available in Waitrose stores nationwide, Ocado.com and Waitrose.com, RRP £1.59 alongside hundreds of restaurants, coffee shops and premium casual dining venues.
