Rapidly-growing Indian spiced condiments brand, Pico Sauces, has secured a retail listing with leading online supermarket, Ocado.
Originally launched in 2015 by food entrepreneur, Arjun Gadkari, Pico Sauces aims to bring authentic flavours of modern India into everyday British meals through its range of hot sauces, ketchups and chutneys.
Available in five flavours – Punjabi Ketchup, Konkan Mango Chilli, Naga Ghost Pepper, Varanasi Tamarind Chutney and Maha Green Chilli – the Pico Sauce product range has been designed to showcase the culinary creativity that is exploding across India today, whilst enabling consumers to enjoy the real taste of India beyond the conventional curry.
The new listing with Ocado follows an impressive period of international growth for the brand, having secured partnerships with major US retailers Kroger, Fred Meyer and Ralph’s, together with listings via Redmart.com and Mustafa Centre in Singapore. As a result, Pico Sauces has increased its annual turnover by 300% over the last 12 months alone.
The brand’s ambitious growth plans will continue to be driven throughout the next year and beyond with a pipeline of new product development (NPD) already underway. This began with the launch of its newest flavour, The Maha Green Chilli Sauce, unveiled via its eCommerce store last month.
Arjun Gadkari, co-founder of Pico Sauces, confirmed: “For many years, Indian food in the UK has been associated with conventional curry flavours that haven’t changed for generations. Yet, dynamic hubs like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore have reimagined how to cook with India’s amazing spices and ingredients.
“I founded the Pico brand to provide consumers with the opportunity to embrace this new, experimental culture by taking Indian flavours beyond the typical curry meal and placing them in non-Indian contexts – from sandwiches through to BBQs.
“We are, therefore, incredibly excited to be listed by such a prominent and leading retailer as Ocado and believe this new partnership will prove fundamental in increasing awareness of our product range across the UK – whilst showing new customers that they can now enjoy Indian flavours with whatever they’re eating, whenever they feel like it!”
With its UK headquarters based in Suffolk, all Pico Sauces retail at £2.50 each and are currently available across all 27 well known food and drink grocers, Booths’, stores, with additional retail listings to be announced in the coming months.
One of the only Indian food brands to focus on condiments instead of cooking sauces and pastes, Pico Sauces is committed to disrupting the Indian packaged food industry.
