Double take for Persie Distillery at Scottish Gin Awards

Two-year old Perthshire business Persie Distillery was awarded Gold and Silver medals at the prestigious annual Scottish Gin Awards in Glasgow on 20 September.

The Gold Award was for Best Marketing Campaign, beating spirit giant Caorunn, while its summer release Dog Days Gin scooped second place in the Distilled Gin category.

The awards ceremony is designed to recognise the best gin brands in Scotland. In the taste sessions, 116 Scottish gin entries were scored by 22 judges in a blind tasting environment, 80 of which were shortlisted and only 12 scored Silver or Gold. There was a 53% increase in the number of gins entered in 2018 compared to the inaugural competition in 2017.

Simon Fairclough, distiller and Managing Director, said: “Winning two medals at the Scottish Gin Awards came as a huge surprise given the stiff competition. To receive a Gold Award for our marketing efforts plus a Silver for our Dog Days Gin was a fantastic honour. It’s all down to the small, dedicated team we have at the distillery. I’m enormously proud of them.”
