Adnams, the Suffolk-based brewery and distillery, has produced its own Adnams Tonic Water and Adnams Tonic Water Light, to accompany its range of award-winning gins and vodkas.
Created by Adnams’ Head Distiller, John McCarthy, the recipe was originally developed to be combined with the brand’s Copper House Dry Gin and sold in the Adnams Copper House Gin & Tonic Cans, which were released earlier this year. Due to the popularity of the pre-mixed G&T cans, Adnams has responded to the call for a stand-alone tonic and created two premium tonic waters, a regular tonic and a light version. Adnams Tonic Water Light has been made with half of the sugar removed and replaced with stevia, a natural sweetener.
The new tonic is particularly suited to Adnams Copper House Dry Gin, which was awarded a Gold Medal by the IWSC in the Gin & Tonic Category earlier this year. This follows Copper House Gin being named the ‘world’s best gin’ at the same awards in 2013.
Adnams Head Distiller, John McCarthy, comments: “As soon as we released our G&T cans, our customers were asking if they could buy the tonic. It made sense for us to develop a tonic that tastes great on its own, but also one that doesn’t overpower the wonderful botanical aromas and flavours in our award-winning gins.
“A good tonic should complement the spirit it is mixed with, not overwhelm it, so our new tonics have that classic bitterness alongside some fresh lemon and citrus flavours.”
Adnams Tonic Water and Tonic Water Light are available now, priced at 89p for a 250ml can or £9.99 for a pack of 12 cans. Purchase from adnams.co.uk or Adnams stores.
