Indian chef Hari Ghotra spices up meal times with curry kits range

Indian chef, Hari Ghotra, has announced the launch of a range of curry kits aimed at getting people to cook, share and enjoy authentic Indian food at home.

The range of 12 kits includes some much-loved classics such as Korma, Tikka Masala and Biryani as well as some less well-known dishes ranging from the South Indian Xacuti, a dish that incorporates coconut and Kashmiri chillies and the creamy yet spicy Makhani.

Last summer, Hari launched an online portal aimed at demystifying Indian food and making it easily accessible to people at home. The curry kits take Hari’s mission one step further, offering a real alternative to convenience food with a simple and easy-to-follow kit that enables people at home to create a delicious and authentic Indian meal from scratch with minimum fuss.

The outer of each curry kit includes a QR code directing consumers to one of Hari’s recipe videos. The videos bring Hari’s recipes to life, helping people create a delicious Indian meal in the comfort of their own home.

The kits will launch on Hari’s website in the autumn but can be purchased now on Shopify. The kits are priced at £3.50 per unit.

Hari Ghotra comments: “Indian food is my passion and since launching my portal, my goal has been to try and get people into the kitchen, cooking up authentic Indian dishes with a few simple and fresh ingredients. My range of curry kits will make it even easier for people at home to create the real flavours of India. As a full-time working woman with a family I know how tempting it can be to reach for a ready-made jar or order a takeaway at the end of a long day. My kits aim to offer people a stress-free alternative to convenience food and bring the theatre of creating Indian food to life using digital channels. With my step-by-step recipe videos, it’s as if I’m right there in the kitchen with you.”

About Hari Ghotra

Born in Wolverhampton to parents who brought with them to the UK their love of Indian food, Hari was brought up in an environment where food played a central role in family life. She was taught to cook by her mother, a woman who moved to Wolverhampton from a small village in the Punjab when she was just 16.

Hari spent lots of happy times in the family kitchen with her mum, learning how to make authentic Indian food using traditional Indian cookery techniques. It was here that she developed her love of spices and began to understand how they could be used to create delicious meals. But Hari isn’t just passionate about cooking Indian food, she’s passionate about sharing it too and is keen to help the world discover how easy it is to recreate genuine Indian food at home.

It was this desire that led Hari to run cookery classes, supper clubs and even pop-up restaurants. Today, Hari shares her love of Indian food and her family recipes online via her cookery portal. Using the tools and platforms afforded to us by new technologies and the digital world, it’s almost as if Hari is in our kitchens offering guidance and step-by-step advice so that everyone at home can recreate her delicious family recipes.
