Wellaby’s award-winning snack ‘Simple Bakes’ secures listings with Waitrose and Ocado

Following the official launch of its snacking innovation, Simple Bakes, earlier this year, Wellaby’s is now proud to be supplying selected Waitrose stores across the UK from 24 July 2017 with its Spicy Chilli and Pinch of Salt & Pepper flavours. In addition, Ocado has also listed all three flavours of the award-winning snack, including the popular Smoky BBQ.  An ideal alternative to regular potato crisps, Simple Bakes are a new range of delicious, moreish, savoury snacks that everyone can feel free to enjoy because they are also free from most common allergens, including gluten, nuts, eggs and they contain no dairy.

Wellaby’s caused quite a stir at the Allergy & Free From Show in London Olympia earlier this month as tastings of Simple Bakes were offered to and enjoyed by many thousands of consumers.

Sue Warren, strategic development director at Wellaby’s, commented: “We are delighted to be stocked in Waitrose and Ocado, we’ve been bombarded with consumers asking if they can purchase our Simple Bakes on the high street, so it is great that this is now possible. Our carefully developed recipes are inspired by a desire to create a range of tasty, healthier snacks that anyone can enjoy.”

Simple Bakes are currently available to retailers and wholesalers in a range of tantalising flavours including ‘Pinch of Sea Salt & Pepper’, ‘Spicy Chilli’ and ‘Smoky BBQ’.  Each 120g bag has an RRP of: £1.79.

Sue Warren continued: “There is a huge opportunity for retailers to offer a ‘better for you’ snack but it has to taste great too. The trend for 2017 and beyond is all about smaller snacks aimed at on-the-go consumers as demand increases for those with busy lives. The next phase of our product development is to launch our convenient single serve sized bags in the winter this year.”

Wellaby’s believes that wholegrain snacks are becoming increasingly popular with health-conscious consumers looking for greater choice from their snacks not to mention the increase in those following a vegan diet or suffering from a food intolerance.

Sue Warren concluded: “People want to eat more healthily but healthy snacks are not a compromise on flavour.  They need to tick the taste box every time as well as have the health attributes.”

Simple Bakes are imported by UK distributor of fine foods, RH Amar. Retailers can contact +44 (0) 1494 530 200 for further information on the range or visit www.rhamar.com.
