SHORE, the Scottish Seaweed Company, has secured an agreement for its Seaweed Chips to be stocked at select Sainsbury’s stores across England this winter.
The Lightly Salted and Sweet Sriracha flavour sharing bags will go on sale in selected supermarkets as part of the retailer’s ‘Taste of The Future’ trial bay program. It comes hot on the heels of SHORE winning a Great Taste award for its Sweet Sriracha Seaweed Chips.
SHORE Seaweed Chips are made from their own sustainably harvested seaweed from Wick, in the North of Scotland. A true local superfood, seaweed is packed full of nutrients such as iodine, as well as being a fantastic source of good-for-your-gut fibre.
These taste credentials are something SHORE Managing Director, Keith Paterson is keen to emphasise: “Our SHORE brand is finally unleashing the massive potential of this local superfood with great tasting products that fit with consumers lifestyles and diets.”
He continued: “Our Seaweed Chips are a great entry point for anyone that has not tried seaweed before. The reaction we get when people try them is fantastic, people really cannot believe how delicious they are!”.
The announcement builds on SHORE’s recent successful local listing in Sainsbury’s stores across Scotland.
The company’s mission is to create an edible seaweed industry of scale in Scotland that is one hundred per cent sustainable, good for the coastal environment and beneficial for the local rural communities.
Keith concluded: “Our success is based on creating tasty plant-based seaweed snacks and foods that appeal to the increasingly mainstream health-conscious consumers who are seeking sustainably sourced, better-for-you snacks that do not comprise on taste.”
SHORE recently secured seven figure funding in order to launch new plant-based snacks and to revamp its existing range.
SHORE products are made from sustainably harvested seaweed grown in Scotland. The product line includes seaweed and nut protein clusters, seaweed chips in three flavours and five varieties of pesto and tapenade sold in jars.
