Award-winning Aberdeen-based smokehouse, John Ross Jr, has launched a new Scottish Smoked Trout product. The Queen’s Award winner’s latest addition, which is smoked in traditional brick kilns dating back to 1857 using time-honoured, artisan techniques, is now available exclusively in almost 300 Waitrose stores nationwide.
Priced at £6.49 for a 200g pack, the product is the first of many new lines expected over the next 12 months in response to growing demand for new smoked and cured ‘ready-to-eat’ fish products.
The exclusive partnership with Waitrose not only widens John Ross Jr’s product portfolio within one of the UK’s most respected and much-loved retail brands, but also builds on the success the smokehouse has had with Waitrose over the last ten years.
Vicky Leigh-Pearson, John Ross Jr’s Sales and Marketing Director, comments: I’m really excited about this new product, which sees us venture beyond salmon. Its new, contemporary and eye-catching pack differentiates it from our traditional smoked salmon product range, yet still communicates how it has been prepared using the traditional artisan methods that John Ross Jr is now renowned for. Our belief is that consumers want to try new smoked and cured products without having to compromise on quality; this latest product represents the perfect solution.”
John Ross Jr first began supplying Waitrose with its 200g Traditional Smoked Salmon, which is available nationwide priced at £6.99, in 2007. The firm enjoys international success, supplying 34 countries with its range of smoked salmon, fresh fish and cured fish products.
