Independent spirits company Think Brands launches a world first in the UK with Pampelle

A world-first launches in the UK. Pampelle captures the bitter-sweet flavours of organic ruby red grapefruit from Corsica together with carefully selected botanicals to create a versatile apéritif.

Naturally low in sugar, Pampelle works in a range of cocktails including a simple Spritz or a French twist on the Negroni, and is set to bring a taste inspired by the Mediterranean to the UK all year round. Pampelle will be distributed in the UK by Mangrove.


Deep red in colour, organic ruby red grapefruits are handpicked on Corsica to create Pampelle’s distinctive, bittersweet flavour. Once harvested, the ripe fruit is taken to a distillery on the banks of the River Charente in the town of Cognac in South-West France, where the liquid is handcrafted in a three-part process.

One: The grapefruits are halved and macerated in copper vats to extract their vibrant flavours and natural citrus aromas.

Two: To enhance the natural aromas, Pampelle’s master distiller sources the highest quality citrus peel and botanicals from around the world including yuzu from Japan, cedrat from France and bitter orange bigarade from Haiti. The botanicals are distilled before they are infused into the ruby red batches and blended with cinchona tree bark quinine, gentian bitters and a signature grape eau de vie.

Three: The rubies are pressed and reduced until they become a deep, velvety red.

En fin, Pampelle is created – a bright spirit that captures the bitter-sweet character of the ruby red grapefruit to create a flavour-packed apéritif. Each boldly-designed bottle is stamped with the seal of a Damselfly, a protected native species that represents the delicate environment that makes this corner of France a world-class wine and spirit-producing region.


The spirit can be served simply as l’apéro (a colloquial French term for apéritif), but it is the drink for all occasions, and can be used as a base in a wide range of cocktails.
