A Huddersfield-based communications specialist has won a weekly Twitter competition devised by Theo Paphitis, helping to instantly raise awareness of the business amongst the 450,000 followers of the Dragons’ Den star.
Code Blue Communications, which offers a range of vehicle tracking and crash camera solutions, was named as one of six Small Business Sunday winners. The competition was created in October 2010 and sees Theo Paphitis rewarding small companies that tweet him @TheoPaphitis describing their businesses in one tweet including the all-important hashtag #SBS. Only tweets made in the time slot between 5.00 PM and 7.30 PM each Sunday count with the best six being re-tweeted every Monday night at 8pm.
Paphitis says: “I admire people who have passion and energy. If you cannot bore your friends to death about your own small business then something is seriously wrong. I was struck by the number of business owners on Twitter who wanted to tell me about their new products and services. Small Business Sunday was born so that people have a specific time slot to tweet and can pitch their ‘sell’ directly to me.”
Russell Goldthorpe, Managing Director of Code Blue Communications, was delighted with the recognition: “We really were surprised to get the retweet but this proves that Social Media really can help your business get the exposure it needs. We’re one of only five telecoms companies to have earned the award and the only fleet solutions provider to do so, which is a great honour.”
